This is Kurth, visiting student from Fraunhofer ENAS attending S. Tanaka-lab. I would like to report about 11th Fraunhofer symposium in Sendai.
The 11th Fraunhofer Symposium was held in Sendai on November 27th, 2015 within the “Sendai Micro Nano International Forum“. The Forum is annually organized in cooperation with the City of Sendai and the Tohoku University as well as Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.
After a short opening by Mr. Hideya Miki (Fraunhofer Representative Office Japan), kindly welcomes were given by Mr. Yukimoto Ito (Vice Mayor City of Sendai) and Prof. Motoko Kotani (Executive Member Science Counsel Japan; Director WPI-Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University). Prof. Thomas Gessner (Director of Fraunhofer ENAS) gave an overview of trends and tendencies of internet of things with his keynotes and kindly opened the morning session. Afternoon session was opened by Prof. Shuji Tanaka, who was speaking about the cooperation between Tohoku University and Fraunhofer ENAS as an innovative R&D partner.

Fraunhofer ENAS, FEP and AIF as well as the Tohoku University and Companies from Germany and Japan presented new developments in smart systems, advanced system integration technologies and new materials. Beside exchanging research results, the cooperation between Fraunhofer ENAS, Tohoku University Sendai and Japanese Industry was focused by the 11 presentations and many posters.
Presented topics have been reinforced and new contacts were established during the evening reception. Closing remarks were given by Prof. Masayoshi Esashi.
